10 Lines on Shivaram Hari Rajguru

Shivaram Hari Rajguru or Rajguru was an Indian revolutionary who fought for India’s independence and sacrificed his life for it. He was one of the revolutionaries along with Bhagat Singh and Sukhdev. Rajguru followed the extremist steps for achieving freedom which included the killing of British officials, looting their resources and money, etc.

Rajguru never feared his death as he was determined for snatching independence from the hands of the Britishers. After joining the Hindustan Socialist Republic Party, Rajguru along with his fellow freedom fighters performed many activities that shook the roots of the British government.

Set 1

1) Shivaram Hari Rajguru or simply Rajguru was a freedom fighter of India.

2) He was the colleague of revolutionaries like Bhagat Singh and Sukhdev.

3) Rajguru was born on 24th August 1908 in ‘Khed’ village located in Maharashtra.

4) He received his primary education at his birthplace at Khed village.

5) Since his childhood days, he saw the atrocities of the Britishers on Indians.

6) The atrocities enraged Rajguru and he decided to join the freedom struggle.

7) Rajguru became a member of the ‘Hindustan Socialist Republican Army’ (HSRA).

8) The whole nation was engrieved and enraged by the killing of Lala Lajpat Rai.

9) Rajguru and his fellow revolutionaries decided to kill the perpetrator, J.P. Saunders.

10) He faced the trial of killing Saunders and was executed on 23rd March 1931.

1) Shivaram Hari Rajguru was a great Indian revolutionary who played a major role in India’s struggle for independence and sacrificed his life in it.

2) Popularly known as ‘Rajguru’ was the colleague of two other great revolutionaries, Bhagat Singh and Sukhdev.

3) He was born in Pune district of Maharashtra near the banks of Bheema River to ‘Harinarain Rajguru’ and ‘Parvati Devi’.

4) Rajguru received his primary education at his home village Khed and later he moved to new English High School at ‘Nana ka Bara’ in Pune.

5) During his childhood, Rajguru came face to face with the atrocities of the Britishers on the Indian people, this enraged Rajguru for revenge and revolution.

6) He joined Hindustan Socialist Republican Army (HSRA) which has the aim of getting India’s independence at any cost.

7) He also joined Bhagat Singh and Sukhdev who were involved in the killing of a British police officer J.P. Saunders in Lahore in 1928.

8) The trio of Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Rajguru were arrested for bombing in the Central Assembly Hall in New Delhi on 8th April 1929.

9) All the three revolutionaries including Rajguru faced the trials and finally a death penalty by the British court.

10) National Martyrs Memorial is dedicated to all these three revolutionaries and located at ‘Hussainiwala’ in Ferozepur district of Punjab.

1) Shivram Hari Rajguru is one of the great Indian revolutionaries who sacrificed his life for the freedom of the country.

2) Rajguru had witnessed the brutal atrocities which were committed by the imperial British authorities to India and its people since his childhood days.

3) The main objective of Rajguru was to instill fear in the hearts of the officers of British rule.

4) He saw the British police lathi-charging the protesters in protest against the Simon Commission in October 1928, in which veteran leader Lala Lajpat Rai was seriously injured.

5) He was the member of Hindustan Socialist Republic Army along with Rajguru and Bhagat Singh.

6) They all worked together to spread awareness among the public and to associate them in freedom struggle.

7) On 18 December 1928, in Firozpur, Lahore, they planned murder of superintendent of police P. Saunders in revenge of Lala Lajpat Roy’s death.

8) After that attack, Rajguru went Nagpur to take refuge in the house of an RSS worker; there, he met Dr. K.B. Hedgewar (the founder of Rashtriya Syamsevak Sangh).

9) Shivram Rajguru was eventually arrested during his visit to Pune by the British.

10) Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev Thapar and Shivram Rajguru were convicted of their crimes and sentenced to death.

Set 4

1) Shivaram Hari Rajguru was born into a middle-class Marathi family in Pune.

2) His father Hari Narayan died in childhood then he was raised by his elder brother and mother.

3) At the age of 12, he went to Varanasi to learn and study Sanskrit.

4) At the age of 16, while studying in Varanasi; he was greatly influenced by Chandrasekhar Azad and immediately joined his party Hindustan Socialist Republican Army.

5) Azad was very impressed with the young man Rajguru and started teaching him about shooting due to which Rajguru soon became a skilled shooter like Azad.

6) In the Hindustan Socialist Republican Army, he was also known by secret names “Raghunath” and “M. Maharashtra”.

7) He killed the British police officer P. Sanders on 18th December 1928, together with Bhagat Singh and Sukhdev in the avenge of the death of Lala Lajpat Roy.

8) On 23rd March 1931, Rajguru was hanged along with Bhagat Singh and Sukhdev in the central prison of Lahore at seven in the evening.

9) On paying homage to the martyrdom of Rajguru, the villagers named his village ‘Rajguru Nagar’ after him in Kheda district.

10) On 22nd March 2013, the Government of India issued a commemorative postage stamp on Rajguru’s death anniversary.


On 23rd March 1931, all three revolutionaries including Rajguru were executed on the charge of throwing bombs in the Central Hall. The intention of throwing bombs was not to harm anybody but to give a stern message to the Britishers that the countdown of their end has begun and India will beget freedom at any cost. Rajguru always actively participated in every mission of his organization with his other colleagues Bhagat Singh and Sukhdev. He along with other freedom fighters will always be remembered in Indian history.
