Sukhdev Thapar or Sukhdev was an Indian revolutionary who fought for India’s independence and sacrificed his life for it. He was one of the revolutionaries along with Bhagat Singh and Rajguru. Sukhdev followed the extremist steps for achieving freedom and it included the killing of British officials, looting their resources and money.
He never feared his death as he was determined for snatching independence from the Britishers. After joining the Hindustan Socialist Republic Party, Sukhdev along with his fellow freedom fighters performed many activities which made the British rule in trouble.

1) Sukhdev Thapar or simply Sukhdev was an eminent freedom fighter of India.
2) He was the colleague of revolutionaries like Bhagat Singh and Rajguru.
3) He was born on 15th May 1907 at Ludhiana in British erstwhile Punjab.
4) Sukhdev’s was brought up by his uncle Lala Achintram after the death of his father.
5) Since his childhood days, Sukhdev saw the atrocities of the Britishers on Indians.
6) Those atrocities enraged Sukhdev and he decided to join the freedom struggle.
7) Sukhdev started an organisation, ‘Naujawan Bharat Sabha’ at Lahore to attract youths.
8) He became the member of ‘Hindustan Socialist Republican Army’ (HSRA).
9) Sukhdev and his fellow revolutionaries decided to kill the perpetrator, J.P. Saunders who killed Lala Lajpat Rai.
10) Sukhdev faced the trial of killing Saunders and was executed on 23rd March 1931.

9) The trio of Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Rajguru were arrested by the British police for bombing the Central Assembly Hall in New Delhi on 8th April 1929.
10) All the three revolutionaries including Sukhdev faced the trials and death penalty was awarded to all three of them.

1) Sukhdev Thapar was a senior member of Hindustan Socialist Republican Association and various revolutionary organizations in Punjab.
2) He founded the Navjawan Bharat Sabha (Young Indian Assembly), whose main objective was to fight for independence by opposing the British.
3) Sukhdev is particularly known for his involvement in the Lahore conspiracy that took place on 18th December 1928.
4) He was a co-criminal with Bhagat Singh and Shivram Rajguru who planned the Lahore conspiracy in response to the death of Lala Lajpat Rai.
5) On 8th April 1929, they bombed together in the Central Assembly Hall in New Delhi and were caught by the police shortly afterwards.
6) Sukhdev was well aware of the atrocities being committed by the British on Indians since his childhood.
7) At that time, the British used to treat Indian people like slaves and used to view Indians with hatred.
8) For these reasons Sukhdev got involved in revolutionary activities and kept fighting for freedom from British rule.
9) Sukhdev, Rajguru and Bhagat Singh were hanged on 23rd March 1931 and secretly they were burnt at the banks of the river Sutlej.
10) Sukhdev had sacrificed his life for the country and at the age of 24, he was martyred.

On 23rd March 1931, all the three revolutionaries including Sukhdev were executed on the charge of throwing bombs in the Central Hall. The intention of throwing bombs was not to harm anybody but to give a stern message to the Britishers that the countdown of their ending has begun and India will beget freedom at any cost. Sukhdev always actively participated in every mission of his organisation with his other colleagues Bhagat Singh and Rajguru.
