10 Lines on Vinayak Damodar Savarkar

Vinayak Damodar Savarkar was a freedom fighter and a revolutionary Indian who understood to face jail rather than bend down towards the British rule. When he was a child, he made his group of children called Vanar Sena and challenged British rule. When Savarkar became young and was very popular by giving fiery speeches against British rule. Savarkar went to become a barrister in London but there he also started revolutionary activities.

Savarkar was a strong supporter of Hinduism and to answer the rise of the Muslim League and their demand of Pakistan on a religious basis, he joined Hindu Mahasabha at that time.

6) After receiving elementary education, Savarkar went to Fergusson College, Pune.

9) Firstly, Savarkar was in Yeravda jail and then shifted into Andaman cellular jail.

10) Savarkar died on 24th February 1911 in Bombay due to his bad health condition.

2) Vinayak Damodar Savarkar was the propagator of the ‘Hindutva philosophy’ and always advocated about Hindutva and told the meaning of being a Hindu.

3) In response to the Muslim league, Savarkar joined ‘Hindu Mahasabha’ to popularize the concept of Hindutva; he was also the president of Hindu Mahasabha.

4) Vinayak Damodar Savarkar was born in the ‘Bhagur’ village of Nashik district, his father was ‘Damodar Savarkar’ and his mother was ‘Radhabai Savarkar’.

5) Savarkar was a born rebel; he formed a group of children known as ‘Vanar Sena’ to drive out to Britishers from India when he was only 11 years.

6) After passing matriculation in 1901, Savarkar got admission in Ferguson College in Pune; Savarkar becomes a youth icon after giving speeches against British rule.

7) Savarkar founded an organization called ‘Abhinav Bharat Society’ in May 1904; he used to give aggressive speeches from that platform against British rule.

8) In June 1906, Savarkar left India to London for becoming a barrister but in London, he carried his revolutionary activities and delivered a speech against Britishers.

9) Savarkar was arrested in London on 13th March 1910 for raging anti-British sentiments, while in transit he jumped out of the ship and reached Marseilles.

10) Savarkar was sentenced to 50 years of rigorous imprisonment and was sent to Andaman jail on 24th December 1910 after facing the trials in India.

1) Vinayak Damodar Savarkar was a frontline fighter and a fierce nationalist leader of the Indian independence movement.

2) He was also a great revolutionary, thinker, accomplished writer, poet, brilliant orator, and visionary politician.

3) Savarkar coined the term Hindutva to create a collective “Hindu” identity as an essence of India.

4) Vinayak Savarkar was born in Bhagur village near Nasik in Maharashtra.

5) His mother’s name was Radhabai and father’s name was Damodar Pant Savarkar.

6) He married Yamunabai, the daughter of Ramchandra Trimbak Chiplunkar.

7) In 1907, he founded a revolutionary organization called Abhinav Bharat.

8) Madanlal Dhingra, a friend and follower of Savarkar in 1909, killed the British officer Curzon in a public meeting.

9) Veer Savarkar worked for Hindu, Hindi, and Hindustan all his life.

10) Because of this ideology, post-independence governments did not give him the importance he was rightfully entitled to.

5) On 25 February 1931 Savarkar presided over the Untouchability Eradication Conference held in the Bombay Presidency.

6) He was arrested and sent to Cellular Jail in the conspiracy to murder collector Jackson on 7th April, 1911.

7) In 1920, at the behest of Vallabhbhai Patel and Bal Gangadhar Tilak, he was released on condition of not breaking British law and not revolting.

8) In March, 1925, he met the founder of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, Dr. Hedgewar.

9) Savarkar was sentenced to two-and-a-half life imprisonment by the British government for his revolution work, which was the first and unique punishment in the history of the world.

10) It was Savarkar who made the first Indian flag, which was hoisted by Madame Cama at the 1907 International Socialist Congress in Germany.


Vinayak Damodar Savarkar was kept in Andaman jail for continuous 50 years punishment after facing the trials in Bombay or Mumbai but he didn’t stop agitating against the British rule. Savarkar was also a staunch supporter of Hindutva who believed that every each person is Hindu, in fact, he advocated for the word Hindi for every Indian, as the religion might be different but their identity is the same, every people here in India is Hindi.
