Most of us buy vegetables that look fresh and good in appearance. The fruits and vegetables in the market that appears good and green are not healthy. It is because they have been grown by the use of chemical fertilizers. These days most of the fruits and vegetables present in the market are grown by using chemical fertilizers instead of using organic fertilizer. Organic farming involves the use of organic fertilizers and products obtained that is good for health.

Farming that involves the use of natural or organic fertilizers during the production of crops are stated as Organic Farming. Manure obtained after composting, green manure, and bone meals are used as organic fertilizers by the farmers. The increased demand for food due to the increased population has led to the initiation of the Green revolution in the world.

This had totally changed the traditional methods of farming due to the development of newer farming methods, tools, and techniques. It led to the beginning of the use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides for obtaining a good yield of the crops. This development in farming techniques and procedures can be beneficial for a limited period of time as it has adverse effects on the soil as well as the environment.

Organic Farming is a technique of farming that have been prevalent before the 1950s has been again instituted as modern organic farming in the 20th century with some improved methods and techniques. It states about reducing the use of chemical or artificial fertilizers in farming. It will not only be good for getting healthy products but also make the soil rich in nutrients. Modern Organic farming after initiation is now practiced in many countries of the world. It is at a developing stage in the country of India. There are some states that have instituted this method of farming but it requires time for bringing all the agricultural land under organic farming. The Sikkim state of India has been recognized as the first state for practicing 100% organic farming. The government of India has also launched several programmes and policies to foster organic farming in India. Slowly and gradually the percentage of organic farming will be increased in every state in the coming future.

Replacing the Conventional Method of Farming

The increasing development led to increasing in the population. There were many people to eat but the production of food was very less. The requirement of food in India was fulfilled by the grains that were imported from the other countries. The advent of the Green Revolution in the 1950s had brought a major change in the traditional farming methods.

There was the development of different farming tools and techniques. The introduction of artificial fertilizers, pesticides, Genetically Modified Crops has changes the scenario of farming.
