Paragraph on Biodiversity

The wide range of species dwelling on earth is defined as Biodiversity. There are zillions of plants; animals, microbes, etc. are part of earth’s flora and fauna family. They all together called as Biodiversity. For a better understanding of readers, we have created some of the important paragraphs on biodiversity. Kindly read it as per your need.

Short and Long Paragraphs on Biodiversity

Paragraph 1 – 100 Words

Biodiversity is the variety of species, plants, microorganisms, fungi, humankind, etc present on the earth. It covers terrestrial and marine life both. Biodiversity tells us the richness of the earth. Nature has provided a balance between all of the living species living on the earth. Biodiversity contributes to a major part of it.

The ecological balance between all the living organisms and the greenery is the base of survival on earth. Marine life is much vast than terrestrial life. Marine life includes thousands of coral reefs, microorganisms, variety of living organisms, etc. Forests, wildlife, etc. are the part of terrestrial life. Both lives are connected with one another.

Paragraph on 2 – 120 Words

Biodiversity is the large range of plants and living organisms living on earth. Biodiversity is the major part of earth. They are the reflection of earth. They all play key role in maintaining our ecological system. Scientifically it is stated that many of the species still not discovered.

Biodiversity is Important for Various Reasons

Forests are the habitat of various species. They are called as natural air filters, as they provide oxygen. Biodiversity is important for habitat creation, mutualism between animals and plants, for cleaning the environment and dead and decay.

Terrestrial live and marine lives create an ecological balance together. Oxygen released by aquatic species and plants are beneficial for terrestrial life. Biodiversity plays an important role in the economic perspective of a particular region.  The rich biodiversity of a particular place attracts tourists.

Paragraph 3 – 150 Words

Biodiversity is the enormous life dwelling on the earth. They are important for maintaining the ecological balance on earth. Each unit of biodiversity is interrelated to one another. Bio-diversity is consisting of mainly four forms. These are as following:

Genetic biodiversity: Each species differ from another on the basis of characteristics of their genes. This genes differentiation is called as genetic biodiversity.

Species biodiversity: The species living in a particular region is called as species biodiversity. They include all animals, microorganisms, etc living in a particular region.

Ecological biodiversity: Ecological biodiversity means the varieties of living organisms living according to particular geographical locations. Mountains, Deserts, Forests, Tundra, etc. are examples of ecological biodiversity.

The Western Ghats in India are known for their richer biodiversity. Brazil, Colombia, Educator, Philippines are some of the countries around the globe famous for their vast biodiversity. However, due to man-made and some natural calamities, biodiversity is in danger.

Paragraph 4 – 200 Words

Biodiversity can be understood as the range of living species and greenery around the world. Let’s focus on the causes and effects of biodiversity threats:

Deforestation: Cutting down of forests is one of the serious issues for disturbing the biodiversity. Forests are the habitat of several species and their clearance is dangerous for their survival.

Environmental Pollution: Environmental pollution is a worldwide issue. Excess of pollution is harmful to terrestrial and marine life both. Contamination of impurities in the environment affects flora and fauna on a huge level.

Forest Fires: Forest Fires are one of the reasons that affect flora and fauna. Forests are the home of various living organisms. Forest fires increase the temperature of the particular area due to the ignition of fires several species lost their lives.

Natural Calamities: Natural Calamities like Earthquake, Volcano Eruption, Flood, Drought, etc. are also some serious reason that affects biodiversity.

Leather Industry: Leather Industry is one of the biggest reasons behind the killing of innocent animals. Crocodiles, bears and other animals’ skins are the base of the leather industry.

Food Industry: Animal meats are highly consumable food across the world. This is also one of the reasons for killing innocent animals.

Consequences of These Threats:

  • Loss of Wildlife
  • Loss of Aquatic life
  • Climatic Change
  • Health issues
  • Extinction of rare species

Paragraph 5 – 250 Words

Biodiversity is a large range of plants, species, microbes, and fungi living on earth. From the continuation of the above Paragraph, we are going to discuss some of the methods for increasing biodiversity:

Planting various indoor plants and trees will purify the air. Planting flower plants can be a good idea for household gardens, it will not only beautify the aura but it will help in adding the natural air. Visiting Local Botanical gardens with family, Joining environmental conservation groups and NGOs can be the best option for conservation of biodiversity.

Encouraging people to develop a sustainable goal while using water and other animal and plant-based products. Using recyclable products can add up steps towards the goal of conservation of biodiversity. Crossbreeding is one of the methods for increasing the species.

Biodiversity Monitoring: Biodiversity Monitoring is the parameter for measuring the rate of increasing and decreasing biodiversity over a while. It keeps checking on all the species and greenery and their evolution.

Some Facts about Biodiversity:

  • Coral reefs are the most diverse for the ecosystem.
  • According to the survey it is found that yearly 0.1% of biodiversity is lost.
  • 98% of Madagascar’s species cannot survive anywhere on earth.
  • In a survey, it is found that 300 endangered species are needed to be protected.
  • Areas near the equator are richer in biodiversity.
  • Global warming is one of the reasons for losing various species.
  • Changes in ocean temperature affect biodiversity on a huge level.
