Uttarakhand is one of the 29 states in India which was carved from Uttar Pradesh on 9th November 2000. State is known for its beautiful valleys of Himalayas and religious places so are called as Devbhoomi. The state capital is Dehradun and is the largest city in the state. Natives in Uttarakhand are divided in two categories named as Garhwali and Kumauni.

According to 2011 censes, population in state is measured around 10.08 million which makes it 19th most populated state in country. Literacy rate in Uttarakhand as per 2011 censes is about 78.82% of that male ratio is 87.40% and female ratio is 71.62%. Education in Uttarakhand has been shown upward in recent decades as it has various government and private schools, colleges and higher educational institutes.
