Tripura is the state in India situated in North East direction. The state is bounded by Bangladesh and Indian states of Assam and Mizoram. As per 2011 censes, state has about 3 lakh population which is 0.3% of total population in India and is the 3rd smallest state in country by area. Agartala is the capital of Tripura. Bengali and Kokborok are the official languages in Tripura.
Literacy rate in Tripura has achieved 1st position in the country with 94.65% which has beaten Kerala in literacy as per 2011 censes. To enhance literacy rate in Tripura state government has played an important role by taking necessary steps. State Government has declared education compulsory and free for all those students whose age lies between (6-14 years). The first higher educational college is Bir Bikram College which was established in 1947; after that various polytechnic colleges, degree colleges and institutes were setup in the state.
