One of the seven union territories in India is Andaman Nicobar that is the group of islands nearby Bay of Bengal and Andaman Sea. It itself includes two groups of Islands Andaman and Nicobar islands. Capital of Andaman Nicobar is Port Blair which is located more that 1000 km from Kolkata, Vishakhpattanam and Chennai in different directions.

2011 Censes says that population of Andaman Nicobar is around 4 Lakh in which 53.25% are male and 46.75% are female. According to 2011 censes, overall percentage of educated people in Andaman Nicobar is increased by around 5% thus the Union Territory has now 86.27% literacy rate which is much better than any other states in India. This phenomenal literacy rate is maintained due to large number of good primary or secondary schools and also higher educational institutes.

- Second Government Polytechnic Port Blair
Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Gov. Polytechnic College is the oldest engineering college in Port Blair established in 1984 and affiliated to the Maharashtra State of Board of Technical Education with ISO 9001 Quality System Certification. College has highly educated staff and also mainly focus on its library which is fully computerized with internet facilities along with barcode on around 43600+ books and CDs. This college also provides educational facilities to the non resident student too. University offers technical degrees like:

Second Government Polytechnic College is the higher educational college in Port Blair since 1989 which was developed in complement to the first engineering college in Andaman Nicobar that is Dr B.R. Ambedkar Gov. Polytechnic College. The rate of education development in Lakshadweep is increased after the foundation of this institute. This college provides education for courses in some others fields apart from DR. B.R. Ambedkar Gov. Polytechnic College like Fisheries engineering and fishing boat skipper, electronics and communication, trade diploma courses in Hotel Reception and Book keeping.
