Martyrs Day or Shaheed Diwas is a tribute to our great freedom fighters. In India, Martyrs Day is celebrated on two different dates. For knowing more about this day, kindly read the paragraphs mention below.
Martyrs Day is observed on 30th January and 23rd March in India. It is devoted to the courageous efforts of our great freedom fighters. On 30th January 1948, M. K. Gandhi (Father of the nation) was assassinated and martyred. 23rd March 1931 is also carrying a sad tale of three great revolutionaries of India. Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev Thapar, and Shivaram Rajguru were hanged by the British government.
For paying homage to these legends, Indians celebrate Martyrs’ Day. Around the globe fifteen countries (including India) commemorate Martyrs Day.
On this day people pay homage to the martyrs. Political and public figures pay floral tribute to the crematorium grounds. On this day, people remind the legacy of demised ones.
Martyrs Day is carrying two unfortunate events from the pages of history. Here I am going to explain Martyr’s Day 30th January.
On 30th January 1948, Mahatma Gandhi (great Indian revolutionary and political figure) was shot dead during his prayers by Nathuram Godse. According to him, M. K. Gandhi was responsible for the partition of India and Pakistan.
Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi (publicly known as Mahatma Gandhi) was born on 2nd October 1869. He was a prominent spiritual leader in the Independence movement of India. He was a supporter of non-violence and peace. He had played a major role in our Independence from Britishers. He held the Non-Cooperation movement. He focused on Swadeshi (Products made in India). For reminding his death anniversary the Indian government declared it as Martyrs Day or Shaheed Diwas.
Martyrs Day is witnessed every year for reminding the great freedom fighters of our nation. From the continuation of the above paragraph, we are going to provide you with some details on the sequence of events that are observed annually on 30th January. On 30 January 1948, the nation mourns.
Martyrs Day reminds the Death Anniversary of Great Indian freedom fighters. On 23 March 1931, three young lives were hanged by the British Government. Bhagat Singh, Shivaram Rajguru and Sukhdev Thapar were young protesters and great Indian freedom fighters. Their way of British Government Boycott was different from M. K. Gandhi. They chose a path of physical violence for abolishing the British rule from India. They were young and enthusiastic.
Bhagat Singh and his fellow members were accused of killing British Police Officer John Saunders. They killed him by mistake. They come up with the plan of killing Police Officer James A. Scott. They mistook and killed John Saunders. Bhagat Singh vowed to kill James A. Scott, as the revenge for Lala Lajpat Rai. Lala Lajpat Rai (Punjab Keshari) was deeply injured in a Lathi Charge while protesting against the Simon Commission.
After killing the British Police Officer Bhagat Singh and his two friends were found guilty in a bomb explosion in Police Head Quarters and similar activities. There hanging was scheduled for 24th March. But, British Police trapped them up in their conspiracy and hanged three of them on 23rd March 1931.
At a very young age, three of them died. It was a very unfortunate event for the whole nation. Youths came out on the street and protested on loud. Riots were spread all over the nation. It was the cruelty of the British Government, for taking three young lives. For all of these reasons, 23rd March is reminded as martyrs’ day.
The Annual observance of Martyrdom of great Indian fighters is dedicated to their brave efforts. From the continuation of the above topic, I am going to discuss the glimpse of events that are observed on 23rd March annually:
